1935 Doc Pomus, US songwriter. Wrote many early 60's hits with Mort Shuman including, 'Sweets For My Sweet', 'Teenager In Love', 'Save The Last Dance For Me.' He died on February 26th 1991.

1944 Beach Boy Bruce Johnston is born.

1951 Gilson Lavis, drums, Squeeze, (1979 UK No.2 single 'Up The Junction').

1958 Lisa Germano, American singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, 1994 album ‘Geek the Girl.’ Also worked with John Mellencamp, Simple Minds, David Bowie, Neil Finn, Sheryl Crow, Iggy Pop, Jewel and Eels.

1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Ohio" is released.

1975 Texas heavy-metal blues trio ZZ Top earn their second gold record for their fourth album, "Fandango" which includes the Top 20 hit, "Tush."

1978 Bonnie Tyler's voice on "It's a Heartache" is compared and sometimes mistaken to be Rod Stewart's. The hubub helps turn the single into a hit.

1988 Cyndi Lauper finally gets her high school diploma from Richmond High in New York. Meanwhile Debbie Gibson gets hers from Calhoun High on Long Island.

1988 MCA Records buys legendary Motown Records for $61 million.

1989 The Who performs the rock opera, "Tommy" in its entirety for the first time in 17 years at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The show raised money for a children's charity as well as the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

1989 Tom Jones is awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

1991 Paul McCartney's first classical work, the semi-autobiographical Liverpool Oratorio is performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in Liverpool Cathedral.

1993 Lyle Lovett marries actress Julia Roberts. They would divorce in 1995.
